Head of Sales, UK&I - Founding Commercial Role
Location: Portsmouth, Hybrid (4 days onsite, moving to 2–3 days post probation)
Our client is an early stage, venture backed business operating at the intersection of advanced manufacturing, data led processes, and sustainable materials. They work with large commercial and public sector organisations to deliver innovative, lower impact alternatives to traditional materials, supporting long term infrastructure and asset requirements.
Having built a strong product foundation and significant commercial interest, they are now making their first senior sales hire. This is a founding commercial role with full ownership of revenue generation across the UK and Ireland, and a mandate to shape how the business sells as it scales.
What you will do
- Own the full sales cycle across UK and Ireland, from initial engagement through to negotiation, close, and repeat business.
- Drive commercial conversations with senior stakeholders across private and public sector organisations, including large national customers and public bodies.
- Convert a strong existing pipeline into committed revenue, improving first order values, contract length, and long term customer value.
- Lead pricing discussions and support the structuring of commercial agreements, including dynamic pricing where appropriate.
- Work closely with the founders to define the go to market strategy, sales processes, forecasting, and revenue targets.
- Provide input into commercial contract governance, helping shape agreements that support both customer needs and the company’s growth objectives.
- Act as a senior commercial representative of the business, comfortable spending time on site with customers and partners when impactful.
What you bring
- Strong experience in senior B2B sales roles, ideally within manufacturing, construction, infrastructure, sustainability, or adjacent sectors with complex buying cycles.
- A proven track record of closing and negotiating significant contracts, including multi site or long term agreements.
- Experience operating in early stage or scaling businesses where sales processes, pricing, and contracts are still being defined.
- Confidence driving senior level conversations and leading customers towards larger, more strategic commercial commitments.
- Commercially astute, with experience advising on pricing models, deal structures, and contract terms.
- Comfortable in a field based role, with flexibility around travel and in person engagement as required.
Compensation
Basic salary of £60,000 to £75,000 p.a. depending on experience.
Commission structure to be defined with the successful hire, aligned to revenue growth and long term value creation.
