Role Overview We are recruiting a Head of Risk to join our Risk Function at Tesco Insurance and Money Services, reporting to the Chief Risk Officer. In this key leadership role you will be the organisational authority and established expert in insurance operational (non‑financial) risk matters. You will build a strong network across Tesco Insurance, Money Services and the wider insurance industry. Responsibilities
Coordinate the ORSA process including annual report update and stress & scenario testing. Provide oversight and challenge to the Insurance and Money Services business to ensure insurance operational risks are appropriately managed and reported within risk appetite, policy, and regulatory compliance constraints. Prepare and present papers to key stakeholders at relevant governance meetings. Use expertise and market knowledge to identify new external developments and/or emerging issues, evaluating their potential impact on the organisation. Apply risk analytical skill set to drive improvements and enhancements to the data analytics within the risk function. Line‑manage a small team of Insurance Risk professionals, accessing Risk SMEs across the wider team when needed.
Qualifications
Proven experience in a risk management function within a highly regulated financial services or insurance environment. Robust knowledge of the personal lines insurance market. Experience working in multi‑disciplinary teams, leading projects to achieve specific outcomes within limited timeframes. Extensive experience providing expert competence in risk, building strong relationships and pragmatically challenging stakeholders, including senior leaders. Collaborative mindset, passion for developing people and driving continuous improvement. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Focus on prioritisation and accountability for delivering what matters. Degree or equivalent qualification in a related discipline (e.g. insurance, actuarial, finance).
