About the role At an exciting time in the fast paced growth retail media industry, we are looking for a Head of Retail Media to drive the retail media growth for John Lewis, leading and delivering the Partnership's ambition to have one of the UK’s leading retail media offerings.
You will be accountable for the John Lewis Retail Media & Supplier Insights business, leading the Retail Media Sales team to build revenue and strong client (suppliers and beyond) relationships whilst working collaboratively with the respective Customer teams.
In this role you will drive strategic growth, maximise revenue and build influential relationships with senior John Lewis & client stakeholders.
As part of the Commercial Leadership team within John Lewis, this role will hold the accountability and leadership of a high performing team responsible for directly selling online, in-store & offsite retail media solutions to some of the world’s most prominent advertisers.
You will have strong leadership skills, a retail background, be focused on the customer and have previous experience of looking after a media business of over £50m. Salary - £123,500 - £185,300
Contract type - This position is a Permanent contract.
Working pattern/flexible working - This is a hybrid working role. The normal place of work for this role is our London Central Office in Pimlico. The expectation is a minimum of 3 days per week in the office or with supplier partners as team collaboration is critical in this role
Location - This role is based at our Pimlico Head Office
Key responsibilities
Strategically lead the John Lewis retail media business, shape category plans, optimise client engagement and ensure seamless execution of strategics to achieve ambitious growth targets.
Work as part of the John Lewis Commercial leadership team to set effective category and supplier (client) strategies including alignment of marketing investment agreements through trading terms as well as incremental investments targets beyond trading agreements from brand and agency budgets.
Work with the Customer Leadership team to build brilliant customer propositions, which deliver engaging experiences for customers whilst delivering client objectives and our retail media objectives.
Work closely with the central capability team to ensure we have the right backlog of solution innovation to deliver our growth, investing into new technologies across all channels aligned to deliver & exceed client expectations.
Be able to deliver a pipeline of revenue reporting.
Building excellent customer relationships and bringing together our branch and customer brands.

Essential skills/experience you’ll need
Significant experience in fast paced commercial retail and/or media sales leadership with a proven track record in hitting ambitious sales and profit targets
Strong stakeholder management and experience of managing multiple peers and teams with differing interests
Strategic thinking and plan development for commercial proposition
Retail Media expertise including a solid understanding of retail media propositions, the industry landscape and trends
Experience in setting strategy for sales growth with suppliers but also 3rd party / non-endemics and agencies.
Experience in building a high performance teams and driving cultural transformation
Great knowledge of operational excellence in sales - pipeline management, operational sales team management, target setting and monitoring
Budgeting, financial and sales acumen
Business Leadership, playing a broader role in the leadership and growth of John Lewis and ensuring retail media growth is a part of the overall John Lewis Strategy.
Experience of working in and delivering results in a matrix team environment
Negotiation / GAP training
Highly collaborative and engaging to create an aligned plan across the Partnership
