Head of Operations – Residential Conveyancing

Location: Bolton/ Manchester

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)

Salary: Negotiable, based on experience

Simpson Judge Legal is working in partnership with a highly respected regional law firm to recruit for a Head of Operations within their busy Residential Conveyancing Department, based at their Bolton head office.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced legal operations professional or senior conveyancer ready to step into a leadership role. You’ll be responsible for day-to-day departmental management, strategic support across multiple offices, and running your own caseload.

Role Overview

• Provide operational leadership and team management across the conveyancing department
• Manage your own caseload of residential sales, purchases, and leasehold transactions
• Ensure the team delivers a high-quality, client-focused service
• Organise regular team meetings and set performance targets
• Handle client care and service standards (non-technical issues)
• Liaise with external stakeholders and build strong relationships
• Oversee holiday/sickness cover and authorise team leave
• Provide the tools and support needed for team success
• Delegate effectively and prioritise workloads

Key Skills & Experience Required

• Strong background in conveyancing (sales, purchases, leases)
• Prior team management or leadership experience preferred
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to manage systems and conveyancing case management software
• Proactive, team-oriented, and confident in decision-making
