This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with an expert understanding of the work of a corporate policy unit to lead on the Councils strategic approach to policy development, business planning, and equalities. You will lead on the development of the Councils Corporate Plan and service plans, working with service areas to a develop set of integrated strategies that are effectively aligned to corporate priorities. Youll be in a unique position to spot interdependencies and potential conflicts in different service plans, and to ensure that a consistent strategic golden thread runs through all aspects of our work. Working closely with organisational leaders and elected members, you will provide strategic advice and drive the development of integrated corporate policy and planning frameworks that guide effective delivery across services. You will coordinate the work of Policy Development Committees, establishing a clear link between policy priorities and democratic governance, ensuring that outcomes for residents is absolutely central to all policy decisions. Were looking for someone who will champion innovation in policy practice, including the use of AI, research insight and strategic networks such as Local London, the LGA and the GLA to inform policymaking, strengthen Redbridges external voice and come up with partnership solutions. You will also lead the Councils Equalities function and approach, ensuring inclusive policy design, authentic resident involvement and full collaboration with the voluntary and community sector (including delivering a high performing grants programme) to improve outcomes for Redbridges diverse communities. You will also have the opportunity to lead on the Councils commitment to be recognised as a UNICEF Child Friendly City or Community, ensuring that all children have a meaningful say in, and truly benefit from, the local decisions, services and spaces that shape their lives. You should already have experience of providing high level policy and strategy support and advice to Elected Members and senior managers. An in-depth understanding of the equalities agenda and local governments role within it will be key, along with practical experience of developing and delivering equalities and diversity strategies. Highly developed communication, engagement and negotiation skills will be valuable attributes, enabling you to work well in partnership with external partners and colleagues across the Council.
