Overview Full-time | Permanent | Start Date: September 2026 We are seeking an exceptional Head of Learning Support (SENCo) to lead our dedicated department and play a central role in shaping an ambitious, inclusive and neuroaffirming learning culture within our highly selective, forward‑thinking school. The role As Head of Learning Support, you will provide strategic leadership of SEND provision across the school, ensuring compliance with statutory expectations and embedding best practice aligned with the SEND Code of Practice. Key responsibilities
Leading a whole‑school vision for high quality SEND provision. Overseeing the SEND register, IEPs, provision mapping and Learning Support policy. Coordinating assessments, referrals and communication with parents, staff and external specialists. Monitoring progress through observation and liaison with pastoral and academic leads. Managing and developing SEND interventions, small‑group support and 1:1 provision. Leading whole‑school SEND training, INSET and CPD. Overseeing access arrangements in line with JCQ regulations. Supporting students at key transition points, including 11+, 16+ and Higher Education pathways. Line managing an experienced Learning Support team.
About you We are looking for an accomplished SEND professional with the National SENCo Award (or equivalent) and QTS, bringing strong experience supporting high achieving learners and equipped with excellent communication and organisational skills. The successful candidate will have the confidence to lead a team effectively and will be skilled in developing interventions, managing access arrangements, and building positive relationships with students, staff and parents, demonstrating calm, inclusive and student‑centred leadership.
