Responsibilities
Drive the strategic development and delivery of all aspects of green finance across The Wildlife Trusts federation, ensuring alignment with the 2030 strategy – Bringing Nature Back. Build a robust pipeline of commercial nature products (e.g., habitat banks for England’s Biodiversity Net Gain market, nature‑based carbon projects for the voluntary carbon market). Embed systems, processes and resources to strengthen green finance capability, manage commercial risks and improve efficiency across the federation. Grow the national Green Finance team, including line‑management responsibilities and establishing new, long‑lasting relationships with colleagues, external partners and stakeholders. Position The Wildlife Trusts as a trusted broker for high‑integrity nature market products delivered by local Trusts. Lead the development of new opportunities for large‑scale investment, designing mechanisms for deployment and ensuring approaches meet both national and local priorities. Champion innovation in green finance, supporting pioneering work on sites such as the Rothbury Estate and positioning The Wildlife Trusts at the forefront of nature market development. Act as a national thought leader, representing the organisation across conservation, government, finance and business sectors and advocating for green finance to deliver transformative impact for nature.
Qualifications
Strong business acumen and experience in green finance and nature markets. Innovative problem‑solver with an entrepreneurial spirit. Proven relationship‑building and line‑management experience to grow a national team. Strategic commercial skills with a track record of developing large‑scale investment opportunities. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities, with the capacity to represent the organisation across multiple sectors.
