A high-performing, Ofsted-rated Good secondary school in Newham is seeking an ambitious and experienced Head of English to lead a thriving department from September 2026. This is a Permanent Head of English role within a well-established Secondary School.
The school is recognised for its calm, purposeful learning environment and strong academic outcomes at GCSE and A-Level. The school is looking for:
  • A strong academic background, ideally a 2:1 or above from a reputable university (Russell Group desirable)
  • Substantial secondary classroom experience within a UK school
  • Evidence of structured curriculum delivery and measurable pupil progress
  • Confidence operating within established behaviour frameworks
  • Legal right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
Salary: Inner London MPS £40,317£52,300 (UPS up to £62,496) + TLR (commensurate with experience).
