This role involves leading, mentoring, and developing the Delegated Authority (DA) and Bordereaux teams, overseeing the full DA lifecycle, measuring performance, maintaining relationships, ensuring compliance, providing reporting, leading projects, providing training, optimizing systems, supporting audits, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor and develop the Delegated Authority and Bordereaux teams
Oversee the full DA lifecycle from onboarding and due diligence through audit, renewals and bordereaux management
Measure and evaluate delegated operations performance ensuring adherence to SLAs/KPIs through effective reporting and analysis
Manage relationships with business stakeholders and outsourced partners to ensure smooth service delivery; liaise with Underwriting, Legal/Compliance, Finance & Claims to deliver a cohesive controls and oversight framework
Ensure all delegated arrangements and processes adhere to internal governance frameworks and regulatory standards; implement and monitor risk management practices to mitigate operational risks and improve resilience
Deliver timely and accurate operational MI and reporting to internal committees and senior leadership
Lead delegated operations projects including system upgrades and vendor collaborations
Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on delegated operations practices
Optimize systems and tools used for Delegated Authority management
Support internal and external audits and other regulatory reviews
Drive a culture of continuous improvement across the DA Operations function
Skills & Competencies
Strong experience in DA operations, deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and proficiency with DA systems
Excellent market and product knowledge – maintain and develop knowledge of regulatory requirements and changes
Leadership – proven leadership and people management capabilities, ability to develop, mentor and motivate staff with adequate training
Change management – successfully implements regulatory and operational change, meeting targets and deadlines; reports performance and drives operational excellence

Communication – excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, ability to write clear, precise documents
Relationship building – ability to establish and maintain excellent internal and external relationships; key business partner to underwriting management and function heads

Compliance – ensures compliance with all internal and external management and regulatory controls

Qualifications & Experience
Educated to Degree standard
ACII (or desire to work towards)
Experienced and confident leader with proven experience in delegated operations within a Lloyd’s Managing Agent or insurance company
In-depth understanding of the Lloyd’s market structure, including its operational, regulatory, and competitive landscape
Comprehensive knowledge of London market environment
Experience managing offshore service providers
Expertise in bordereaux management and policy administration systems
