About the Role In this pivotal position as Head of Computing & Digital Strategy, you will lead the transformation of Computing at Downsend into a strategic driver of whole‑school innovation. You will shape and implement the Digital Mastery vision, ensuring that digital excellence is embedded across teaching, learning and curriculum development. You will design and deliver an ambitious Computer Science pathway from Key Stage 3 through to GCSE and A‑Level, while modelling inspirational teaching across all age groups. As the strategic lead for digital development, you will oversee departmental operations, support cross‑phase alignment, coordinate digital resources and play an integral role in promoting online safety and digital citizenship. Beyond your departmental leadership, you will contribute to whole‑school initiatives, marketing, recruitment and higher‑education pathways, ensuring Computer Science remains a thriving and aspirational subject. Who We Are Looking For You are an exceptional practitioner with a good honours degree in a relevant discipline and Qualified Teacher Status. You also bring experience teaching high‑attaining GCSE and A‑Level classes. You have proven leadership capability—whether through digital transformation projects, curriculum development or departmental leadership—and you are confident shaping strategic direction. You combine deep subject expertise with the ability to inspire students, influence colleagues and champion digital innovation.
