New Today
Redbridge is changing. Ambitious regeneration plans will transform how the borough looks and feels and will be vital to creating greater economic opportunities for our residents. And we are reshaping our organisation to be better equipped to have the greatest impact for our community. We’re putting our customers’ voice at the centre of how we design and deliver services. We want creative and can-do people who will thrive in a collaborative and empowering organisation. This is your chance to be part of a new management team with a mandate for change and a shared sense of purpose.
This is an ideal opportunity for a qualified legal professional, who can bring expert knowledge of Commercial, Property and Planning law. You’ll provide strategic legal advice to elected members and senior officers, supporting informed decision-making, effective governance and a proactive approach to identifying and managing risk.
You’ll be part of the Legal Services Senior Leadership Team, working collaboratively to ensure a cohesive and value-for-money legal service across all aspects of the Council’s work. And you’ll lead and manage the Commercial Legal Services team, fostering a commitment to high quality work, while supporting the professional development of others to build our internal capacity and expertise.
You can expect to take the lead on a caseload of complex legal matters/high priority and/or sensitive cases, while continuing to quality assure the work of your team – ensuring alignment of resources to the delivery of agreed service plans and corporate priorities.
You should be a qualified solicitor or barrister (or equivalent) with practical post qualification experience in Commercial, Property and Planning law. It’s important that you bring a good understanding of the local government legislative framework and that you have a well-developed appreciation of the role of a professional advisor within a political setting.
You should be confident in your ability to manage complex and high-risk legal matters and be able to draw on both your professional expertise and your ability to foster positive relationships to ensure your advice and contribution is effective.
