Chandlers Ford or Monmouth | Hybrid working £69,701 to £75,000 per annum + company car + annual and quarterly bonus A specialist engineering client is looking for a Head of Bids to lead a lean, hands-on bid function in a framework-led environment. This is a strong opportunity for someone who knows public sector tenders, understands frameworks, and wants to play a visible role in shaping how work is won. You could already be operating at Head of Bids level, or you may be a senior Bid Manager or Contracts Manager ready to step into a broader leadership role. You’ll lead a small team of two, made up of a Bid Writer and a Tender Manager, while working closely with colleagues across operations, sales, finance, SHEQ and legal. The focus is on quality, compliance, commercial thinking and building a consistent approach to tendering. What you’ll be doing
Lead end-to-end bid and tender activity across RFI, PQQ and ITT submissions. Manage and support a small team of a Bid Writer and Tender Manager. Oversee framework submissions, tender governance, risk and submission quality. Work with internal teams to produce clear, compliant and commercially strong responses. Improve bid processes, content libraries and overall ways of working.
What they’re looking for
Strong experience with frameworks and complex tenders, ideally in a public procurement setting. Previous leadership experience, or the credibility to step into a hands‑on lead role from a senior bid or contracts background. Excellent writing skills, organisation and commercial judgement.
