About the Role The Head of Back Office Operations is accountable for the day-to-day operational engine of InvestEngine. This role ensures that core back-office operations are controlled, scalable, regulator-ready and consistently executed at pace. This individual acts as the operational counterpart to the Operations Director, owning execution, people leadership, and operational discipline across all back-office functions. They will translate strategy into operating reality. This is not a policy-writing or oversight-only role. It requires hands-on leadership in a proprietary fintech environment, with a proven ability to design, improve and embed operational processes that stand up to FCA scrutiny. What You’ll Do
Own the day-to-day operational engine across InvestEngine’s back-office, ensuring work is controlled, accurate, and consistently delivered Be accountable for outcomes across CASS reconciliations, client money and assets, payments, trading lifecycle, settlement, and corporate actions Act as the escalation point for operational incidents, breaches, and near-misses, driving root cause analysis and durable fixes Lead process design and re-engineering in a proprietary fintech environment, reducing manual work and operational risk Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data to improve straight-through processing and embed operational change Lead, develop, and retain high-performing operational teams, setting clear expectations and uncompromising standards Ensure operational practices align with FCA expectations, producing clear MI and supporting regulatory interactions
What We’re Looking For
Senior operational leadership experience in a fintech or digital investment platform Direct hands-on exposure to CASS and client money / asset controls Strong working knowledge of payments, trading, settlement, and corporate actions Proven ability to design and improve operational processes in a proprietary tech environment Experience leading and developing high-performing operational teams Relentlessly high standards, strong root-cause thinking, and personal ownership of issues Solid understanding of FCA expectations, with the confidence to operate as a strong first-line leader
