We are seeking a Head of Risk, Quality & Assurance to join our client who are a leading transport and infrastructure investor and asset manager. This role is crucial for the development and effective implementation of the company-wide governance, risk management, and assurance framework.

The successful candidate will support our client’s vision of being the UK’s market-leading provider within their industry.

The successful candidate will have trained ideally within the Big Four progressing to a Manager or Senior Manager level before moving into a Senior Audit & Risk role within industry working for organisations with multiple-revenue streams.

This role does require weekly travel to the organisations other offices in the UK.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Develop and periodically update a risk-based internal audit plan to ensure management of fraud and key business risks.
  • Deliver the internal audit plan, maintain high-quality audit standards, and report progress and key findings to executive and non-executive management.
  • Facilitate the update and reporting of the corporate risk register.
  • Oversee lessee and supplier insurance compliance programs and manage the placement of company insurance.
  • Provide support in designing controls and processes for new or enhanced business systems as required.
  • Champion the sharing of good practice in control and process management across the business.
  • Liaise with external auditors and undertake credit risk reviews of key suppliers.
  • Maintain and support governance policies compliance, monitor emerging legislation, and implement required changes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong experience in risk management, internal audits, and corporate insurance.
  • Qualified in Accounting (ACA or equivalent) or Internal Audit (CMIIA).
  • Big Four or Top 6 practice background working at Managerial level.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present to executive management and Audit Committees.
  • Experience in project management, risks, and governance.
  • Proficient in process mapping, controls design, and business processes.
  • Knowledge of internal audit methodologies, project assurance activities, and insurance industry.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in the rail industry or leasing is preferable but not essential.
