This is a key leadership role for someone with strong experience in EHV (Extra High Voltage) systems (132kV–400kV), who can manage electrical interfaces, ensure compliance with Grid and DNO specifications, and drive safe and efficient execution across multiple high-value sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the electrical scope of works for GSP projects from concept through to commissioning.
Act as the primary technical authority for electrical systems interfacing with Grid and DNOs.
Oversee design reviews, specification compliance, and approval processes.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (civils, protection & control, commissioning) to ensure seamless project integration.
Coordinate with grid stakeholders, including Grid ESO/TO, to manage outages, grid code compliance, and energisation plans.
Support project delivery teams in planning, quality assurance, and risk mitigation.
Ensure adherence to CDM regulations, HSE standards, and electrical safety rules.
Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working toward it is desirable.
Proven experience with EHV (132kV – 400kV) networks and GSP interfaces.
Knowledge of Grid standards (e.g., NGTS, G99/G100, Grid Code).
Familiarity with protection and control systems, SCADA, and grid automation.
Previous work with UK DNOs or Transmission Operators is essential.
Strong understanding of grid connection processes, including ICP/IDNO coordination.
