Group Tax Manager – High-Growth, PE backed Real Estate


We’re supporting a fast-growing, acquisitive organisation in the search for a Group Tax Manager to take ownership of all direct and indirect tax matters across a large, complex UK group. This is a key role for an experienced tax professional who can strengthen governance, enhance controls and deliver robust, consistent compliance while partnering closely with senior stakeholders.


The Role:

The Group Tax Manager will lead corporate tax, VAT and operational tax requirements, ensuring accurate reporting, efficient processes and strong oversight across multiple entities. You’ll operate with a high level of autonomy, resolving the majority of tax matters in-house while drawing on external expertise for complex issues. The role also plays a central part in M&A activity, integration projects and ongoing group simplification.


Key Responsibilities:

• Ownership of UK corporation tax and VAT compliance, including tax computations, disclosures and statutory filings.

• Managing tax accounting, transfer pricing, interest deductibility (CIR/thin cap), R&D claims and Quarterly Instalment Payments.

• Providing tax guidance across the business, identifying risks, improving processes and supporting strategic planning.

• Leading tax workstreams for acquisitions, assessing tax risks and integrating new entities into group processes.

• Oversight of tax governance including SAO, CCO, tax risk registers and HMRC relationship management.

• Enhancing tax controls, strengthening documentation and exploring opportunities to improve efficiency through technology.


About You:

• CTA/ACA/ACCA qualified with strong corporate tax and VAT experience gained in large, complex or PE-backed environments.

• Comfortable operating as a standalone tax lead, with the ability to manage multiple entities and deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.

• Commercially minded with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders and provide clear, pragmatic tax advice.

• Strong technical capability, excellent communication skills and an ability to build tax awareness across finance and operational teams.
