Group Financial Controller

Job Type: Permanent, Full time, 37 hour 4-day week, Monday to Thursday
Salary/Hour Rate: Competitive with benefits based on skills, experience, and relevant qualifications
We are seeking a highly capable and driven Financial Controller to play a pivotal role in the financial management and strategic development of our group. This is a senior finance position suited to an ACA-qualified accountant with strong post‑qualification experience in industry, ideally within manufacturing and preferably aerospace.
Responsibilities
Lead the preparation of monthly group consolidation and production of the consolidated monthly reporting pack for senior management and stakeholders
Design, develop, and implement a robust financial reporting suite and management tools for the newly acquired subsidiary to enhance visibility and decision‑making
Ensure accurate and timely group financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls and governance
Lead the annual budgeting process and provide rolling forecasts
Monitor performance against budget and report variances to senior management
Take full responsibility for group cash flow management, forecasting, and working capital optimisation
Liaise with banks and financial institutions to maintain strong relationships, including review facilities, covenants, and funding requirements
Lead the integration of the finance function of a newly acquired subsidiary into the group structure
Establish and produce monthly management accounts for the subsidiary, ensuring alignment with group reporting standards
Implement consistent financial processes, controls, and systems across the group
Responsibility for Companies House filings and statutory compliance across the group
Act as year‑end group audit lead, managing external auditors and coordinating audit deliverables
Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards (UK GAAP FRS 102) and regulatory requirements
Act as a key finance business partner to senior leadership, providing commercial insight and challenge
Support the development of scalable finance processes to support future growth and acquisitions
Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance function
Drive efficiency and automation across the group finance function
Qualifications
ACA-qualified accountant
Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience
Manufacturing industry experience – desirable aerospace industry experience
Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and statutory reporting
Strong experience in group consolidation and multi‑entity reporting
Proven track record in cash flow management and working capital control
Experience leading year‑end audits and managing external stakeholders
Strong systems, reporting, and process improvement mindset
Commercially astute with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non‑finance stakeholders
Highly motivated, ambitious, and proactive
Strong leadership potential with a desire to progress to Finance Director
Detail‑oriented with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable in a growing, dynamic environment
