Job Description
We are looking for a self-motivated and organised Group Environmental Advisor to join the Group Environmental Team, based in Westhill, Aberdeen or Sutton, London. The role is a 12 month fixed term basis, covering maternity leave.
The Group Environmental Advisor contributes to the development, implementation and maintenance of processes, procedures, work methods and initiatives in support of the Company's overall environmental strategies.
This person will be responsible for leading and communicating Group Environmental initiatives, and sharing these initiatives and best practice across all regions.
They will contribute to developing a robust and mature Environmental Compliance plan in line with global and local legislative requirements.
They are to create a positive HSSE culture within Subsea7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSSE codes and practices. They will act in line with the company values, ensuring that they are familiar with and adhere to our Code of Conduct.
What will you be doing?
General Responsibilities
Lead a positive HSSE culture and behaviour across Subsea7 particularly within their sphere of influence
Champion the Subsea7 Critical Safety Behaviours Programme, setting the tone and leading by example
Ensure compliance with all HSSE policies, process and procedures
Responsible for the efficient, timely, accurate and cost effective management and delivery of the function’s activities within the designated area of responsibility
Specific Responsibilities Priority Role
Support the Group Environmental Director with environmental planning and strategy
Proactive attitude to drive environmental change and initiatives across all regions
Using influencing skills to promote relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and best practice
‘Horizon scanning’ for upcoming environmental legislation changes
Responsible for leading and communicating Group Environment initiatives, and sharing best practice across all regions
Promote collaboration on environmental topics globally
Secondary Role
Facilitate monthly Environmental Working Group meetings
Prepare quarterly environmental communications and liaise with Communications team to coordinate issue
Identify and manage environmental risks
Primary owner of the single-use plastic database
Support Group World Environment Day strategy
Assist as required in response to environmental incidents and risks
Prepare for future Environmental legislative requirements
Provide Environmental data compliance support and guidance to group and global teams
Review of the Environmental Impact Assessments and assist in developing mandatory minimum global standards
Liaise across regions to better understand their environmental initiates, and share best practises
Assist Environmental leadership with identifying Environmental resourcing requirements
Other duties as may be required by the line manager
Organisational Structure
The Group Environmental Advisor reports to the Group Environmental Director who reports to the Group HSSE Vice President.
Capability Profile - Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Behaviours
Degree / Academic qualification, ideally in an environmental or related discipline
Relevant years experience in Environmental or Sustainability function
Membership of a recognised environmental professional body – e.g. IEMA (desirable)
Think logically and be able to challenge and work with various layers of the organisation and in a team
Creative and result-oriented attitude (experience with Canva or similar is beneficial)
Strong networking, influencing, communication, presentation and analytical skills
Passion for environment and sustainability
Willingness to travel when required for the job
Working Conditions
Majority of the work is carried out from office, with some home working as per company policy
On/Off-site visits as required
May be a requirement for international travel
