Graduate Teaching Assistant - SEN & Mainstream Schools Across Portsmouth
Prospero Teaching is partnering with a network of specialist SEN schools as well as a range of mainstream primary and secondary schools across Portsmouth and the surrounding areas. These settings support children and young people aged 5-19 with Autism, ADHD, social‑emotional needs, and a variety of learning profiles. Many of our partner schools are known for their therapeutic ethos, multi‑disciplinary teamwork, and personalised approaches to learning and wellbeing.
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to gain hands‑on experience in education, inclusion, and child development while making a meaningful difference to pupils' lives.
About the Role
Hours: 08:30am - 15:30pm, Monday to Friday (term‑time).
Pay: From a minimum of £13.96 per hour.
Support staff in delivering evidence‑based interventions that promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour.
Assist with behaviour tracking, data collection, and progress monitoring for individual pupils.
Work alongside teachers, therapists, and SEN teams to support learning and wellbeing.
Provide small‑group or 1:1 support tailored to pupils' needs.
Help develop strategies that enhance engagement, motivation, and social‑emotional development.
Opportunities available across both specialist SEN provisions and inclusive mainstream classrooms.
What We're Looking For
A degree in any subject (recent graduates welcome).
Interest in education, child development, or supporting young people with additional needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team.
Patience, enthusiasm, and a proactive approach to supporting pupils.
Previous SEN experience is beneficial, particularly with Autism or behavioural needs, but not essential.
Eligibility Requirements
Right to Work in the UK.
Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
References covering the last 24 months.
