Your Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Hydrogeologist to join our team in Shrewsbury or Birmingham, with flexibility to consider other UK office locations. You will be part of the Minerals and Resources team within the Energy group, working on water-related challenges across the quarrying, mining, and waste sectors in the UK.
Key Challenges You Will Address
- Collection, management, and interpretation of data from diverse sources, including field investigations.
- Development of conceptual site models.
- Preparation of hydrogeological impact assessments to identify potential effects on the water environment and propose mitigation measures.
- Production of water monitoring schemes to ensure compliance with planning permissions and regulatory requirements.
- Support for applications for abstraction licences and environmental permits for discharge activities.
- Preparation of hydrogeological risk assessments using specialist software to assess potential risks to the water environment from landfill operations or the deposit of waste on land as a recovery operation.
- Support to the Hydrology team with flood risk assessments and drainage strategies.
Recent Graduate Work Examples
- Data management using environmental databases (e.g., EQuIS).
- Annual environmental monitoring reporting.
- Collecting and collating field hydrometric and water quality data.
- Data processing and analysis in Microsoft Excel and ArcGIS.
- Contributions to hydrogeological impact and risk assessments.

Qualifications
- MSc in Hydrogeology (or equivalent).
- BSc (or equivalent) in a related discipline such as geology, geography, mining, or environmental science.
