Graduate Civil Engineer \n\nLocation: Birmingham \nExperience: 2–5 years\n\nAbout the Role\n\nMy client is seeking a motivated Graduate Civil Engineer with 2–5 years of industry experience to join the growing civil engineering team.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to build strong technical, commercial, and project delivery skills within a supportive and professional environment.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nInfrastructure design for commercial and mixed-use developments, including drainage, highways, and external works\n\nSurface and foul water drainage design, including SuDS solutions\n\nPreparation of drawings, calculations, and technical reports\n\nUse of industry-standard software (e.g. Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or similar)\n\nCoordination with internal teams, clients, local authorities, and statutory undertakers\n\nSupporting project delivery from concept through to construction\n\nAssisting with commercial aspects of projects, including cost awareness, programme constraints, and risk management\n\nEnsuring designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and health & safety requirements\n\nRequirements\n\nDegree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)\n\n2–5 years’ experience in a civil/infrastructure engineering role\n\nExperience working on infrastructure projects, ideally within commercial developments\n\nGood understanding of UK design standards and regulations\n\nProficiency in CAD and civil engineering software\n\nStrong communication and teamwork skills\n\nA proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop\n\nWorking towards, or keen to work towards, professional chartership (ICE or similar)\n\nDesirable Skills\n\nExperience with SuDS and drainage approvals\n\nKnowledge of highways design and external works\n\nFamiliarity with NEC contracts and commercial project delivery\n\nExperience liaising with local authorities and statutory bodies\n\nWhat We Offer\n\nCompetitive salary and benefits package\n\nStructured career development and mentoring\n\nSupport towards professional accreditation\n\nExposure to a diverse range of infrastructure and commercial projects\n\nCollaborative and supportive working environment
