Governance Manager - 3 month FTC to perm


Salary: Up to £75k

Hybrid working: 3 days in 2 from home London City Location


Context:

My client, a leading Insurance sector business are looking to bring someone in to start asap to backfill a permanent leaver. The initial term will be 3 months but if at that point it is amenable to both parties then it could convert to permanent.


About the Role

This essential role is critical in ensuring the delivery of robust governance, regulatory, and compliance oversight. You will be instrumental in ensuring strict adherence to all relevant local legislation, industry standards, and internal policies across the division.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Policy & Procedure: Develop, implement, and maintain effective compliance policies, procedures, and service delivery templates to ensure the highest quality of client service.
  • Operational Control: Manage and conduct approvals around account opening and payment transactions, and oversee controls related to client engagement.
  • Documentation Review: Review key legal and commercial documentation, including delegated authorities and client agreements (e.g., TOBAs).
  • Product Governance: Support the business in meeting all obligations related to Product Governance and oversight (e.g., Prod 4/similar regulatory requirements).
  • Financial Crime Mitigation: Implement effective and robust procedures to actively mitigate the risk of financial crime, including money laundering, bribery, and corruption.
  • Regulatory Horizon Scanning: Monitor and interpret regulatory change and industry best practice to ensure the business maintains a proactive and forward-thinking position.
  • Guidance & Training: Serve as the initial point of contact for compliance and governance queries, providing practical training and guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Audit & Review: Facilitate internal audits and compliance monitoring reviews, managing evidence gathering and responding to queries in liaison with the business.
  • Issue Management: Manage breaches and complaints, identifying underlying trends and training needs, and ensuring all corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
  • Risk Framework: Assist in maintaining a robust risk management framework for the ongoing identification and assessment of business risks.

Experience

  • A thorough understanding of insurance policies and procedures and the financial regulatory framework.
  • Specific knowledge of the Real Estate Insurance environment and associated compliance challenges would be highly beneficial.
  • Proven experience in a role involving compliance, insurance operations, or change management (including experience gained in client-facing roles with compliance responsibility).
  • Strong data management and IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
