About Virtru:
While the rest of the security industry obsesses over locking data down to prevent it from being lost or stolen, we’re doing something fundamentally different at Virtru. We’re setting data free so that you can intentionally share it with others, but without sacrificing security, privacy, or control.
We’ve created both a suite of powerful data protection applications and an open platform that’s sparking an ecosystem of innovation. Through the Trusted Data Format (TDF) open standard, we’re not just protecting data; we’re creating a new paradigm where security enables sharing rather than preventing it.
Think of us as the Android of data protection: a robust platform with an open core that developers and partners can build upon, coupled with our own best‑in‑class applications that showcase what’s possible when you reimagine security from the ground up.
Backed by Iconiq Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, Foundry Capital, and Tiger Global, we’re helping Fortune 500 companies and government agencies discover that true data security means having the freedom to share, collaborate, and innovate—without compromise.
Job Overview
Virtru is hiring a Global Public Sector Senior Sales Leader to create, shape, and capture the European market for trusted data sharing across defense, intelligence, and the Defense Industrial Base. This is not a territory management role as there is no fully formed market to inherit.
Your mandate is to establish Virtru as foundational infrastructure across Europe’s sovereign and coalition ecosystems — spanning:National governments and defense ministriesNATO and alliance structuresEuropean Union institutionsThe full Defense Industrial Base (primes, suppliers, and emerging innovators)Strategic coalition extensions, including partnerships that intersect with regions such as the Middle East (e.g., G42)
You will operate in the space where sovereignty and interoperability collide — and where trusted data sharing has become the gating factor for mission execution. Success in this role means building something durable: a repeatable, scalable market across Europe that did not previously exist.
Responsibilities
Define and execute Virtru’s European market strategy from the ground up
Identify where data‑sharing friction is blocking mission outcomes and turn that into pipeline
Shape demand across governments, NATO entities, and the Defense Industrial Base
Establish Virtru as a required component in coalition and multi‑national program architectures
Build and close complex, multi‑country, multi‑stakeholder deals
Lead engagements tied to major programs (e.g., NATO modernization, GCAP, EU defense initiatives, multi‑domain operations)
Navigate sovereignty, compliance, and procurement realities across jurisdictions
Structure deals that scale beyond single customers into ecosystems
Engage directly with defense primes, suppliers, and next‑generation defense companies
Drive adoption across supply chains where collaboration is required but trust is constrained
Position Virtru as the layer that allows governments and industry to collaborate without surrendering control
Build sales motion aligned to NATO, FVEY, and EU frameworks
Extend into adjacent coalition ecosystems where trust and interoperability are required
Identify where alliance structures create leverage—and turn that into repeatable deal flow
Develop strategic partnerships with system integrators, hyperscalers, and defense contractors
Create partner‑led pathways into markets where direct access is constrained
Ensure Virtru is embedded into broader solution architectures, not sold as a point product
Orchestrate across sales, customer success, delivery, product, and engineering
Ensure deals are executable, scalable, and set up for expansion from day one
Feed market insight back into product and strategy to reinforce competitive advantage
Build and manage pipeline, forecast, and revenue attainment across Europe
Create repeatable sales motions that scale across countries and programs
Balance strategic deal‑making with disciplined execution
