Job Description
Geotechnical Laboratory Technician
Aberdeen
£30,000 - £35,000
This is a fantastic opportunity for a laboratory technician to join a specialised geotechnical contractor and consultancy in Aberdeen.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build a career in geotechnical or materials testing, with full training provided and clear progression opportunities.
The Role You'll be responsible for carrying out a range of soil, rock, and aggregate testing in line with British Standards and internal procedures. The focus is on producing accurate, reliable results while working efficiently within a busy laboratory environment.
Day-to-day duties will include:
Preparing and testing samples to industry standards
Recording and processing results accurately
Assisting with occasional site-based testing
Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring calibration standards are met
Keeping the lab clean, organised, and safe
What We're Looking For
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
Good organisational and record-keeping skills
Comfortable working in a hands-on, physical role
Basic Maths and English (GCSE/ 4/5 or equivalent)
Any previous lab, construction, or materials experience is beneficial but not essential
Training & Development Full training will be provided, including:
Soil, rock, and aggregate testing methods
Equipment calibration and quality procedures
Health & safety training (manual handling, asbestos awareness, etc.)
The Environment This is a practical, active role involving standing, lifting, and working with a variety of materials. You'll be working as part of a close-knit team, supporting ongoing projects and ensuring high-quality results are delivered to clients.
