Job Description
The Role\n\nWe are seeking a motivated, adaptable and enthusiastic individual to join a successful and growing Geo‑environmental division. As part of the geo‑environmental team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects and undertake tasks including ground investigations, environmental sampling, technical reporting, environmental risk assessment and remediation support.\n\nYou will benefit from an inclusive, friendly and flexible working environment where professional development is actively encouraged. This role offers genuine opportunities for career progression within a growing and well‑established consultancy.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nUndertake desk studies and preliminary risk assessments.\nCarry out field‑based work across the UK, including the site management of ground investigations and associated activities, with a strong emphasis on health and safety management and documentation.\nCollect site characterisation data, including soil and groundwater sampling, logging soils to the relevant British Standards and undertaking appropriate in‑situ testing.\nCoordinate environmental sampling, including management of sample records and scheduling of laboratory analysis.\nCompile site data for factual reporting and prepare interpretive reports, including the development of conceptual site models and completion of generic risk assessments.\nWork collaboratively with colleagues across other technical disciplines to maintain the integrity of overall project delivery.\nProduce high‑quality project outputs, including reports, specifications and supporting documentation, ensuring they meet or exceed client expectations and comply with relevant standards and codes of practice.\nDevelop effective working relationships with Project Managers and clients, ensuring clear communication of project progress, changes and issue resolution.\nDevelop and maintain an understanding of the services delivered by the business, the client's operational requirements and the wider industry sector to support effective networking and professional credibility.\n\nYou and Your Experience\n\nBSc qualification (or higher) in Geology, Environmental Geoscience, Environmental Science or a related discipline.\nEntry‑level experience working on geo‑environmental or geotechnical projects.\nAbility to work both independently and as part of a local, office‑based team to deliver projects within tight timescales and budgets.\nExperience of site‑based work, including supervising contractors such as drilling teams.\nAbility to log soil and bedrock in accordance with current standards.\nCompetent technical report writer with some knowledge of Phase 1 and Phase 2 environmental reporting.\nAwareness of the risks associated with geo‑environmental investigations, including health and safety, technical and commercial considerations.\nMembership of a relevant professional body (e.g. Geological Society of London, SoBRA, IES or similar).\nFull clean UK manual driving licence, a valid passport and the right to work in the UK.\n\nWhat's on Offer\n\nThe company is committed to recruiting and retaining high‑quality professionals and offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, including:\n\nCompetitive salary, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual review.\nCompany‑matched pension scheme.\n25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service.\nExtensive training opportunities and supported continuing professional development (CPD).\nEmployee Assistance Programme, including counselling and legal support services.\nSupported opportunities for volunteering and community engagement.\nRegular team‑building events held outside the office.\nCycle‑to‑work scheme.\nEnhanced maternity and paternity leave.\nFree seasonal flu vaccinations.\nOn‑site parking
