Geo - Environmental Engineer/Contaminated Land Officer / Environmental Consultant (Contract)
Location: Primarily office-based with occasional site visits
Contract Length: Initial 6 months (with likely 3-month extension)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Arrangement: Office Based
Rate: £35-£45 p/h
Overview
Our client is working closely with local councils on an environmental project focused on contaminated land. They are seeking a contractor to support the identification, assessment, and reporting of land contamination risks across both existing and newly identified sites.
This is a great opportunity for someone with early-career experience looking to build on their technical knowledge within a structured project environment.
Key Responsibilities
·Undertake contaminated land assessments across a range of sites
·Review and analyse environmental and historical site data
·Produce clear, accurate technical reports for internal and external stakeholders
·Support the identification of previously unrecorded or unassessed sites
·Work collaboratively with local councils and internal teams
·Conduct occasional site visits where required
Requirements
·2-3 years' experience in contaminated land, geo-environmental, or environmental consultancy
·Understanding of contaminated land legislation and risk assessment processes
·Experience in report writing and data interpretation
·Ability to work independently within a project-driven environment
·Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable
·Previous experience working with local authorities or public sector projects
·Familiarity with UK contaminated land guidance (e.g. CLR11)
Contract Details
·Initial 6-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension (project running through to next year)
·Predominantly office-based role with limited site work
