General Manager - Acute Medicine & Infectious Diseases

The Division of Medicine & Therapies at LNWUH NHS Trust are keen to meet organised, dynamic and experienced General Manager candidates looking for their next career opportunity at Band 8C across a unique remit of Acute Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
The successful applicant will have a strong grip and understanding of non-elective in-patient care pathways and strategies which support timely discharge. They will proficiently oversee delivery of performance of the acute medical take, medical assessment units and medical HDU. They will manage demand and capacity and oversee responsible and productive delivery of staff job plans and quality clinical services.

Main duties of the job
Responsible for the operational delivery, performance and governance of Acute Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
Lead directorate teams to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of high-quality patient centred services, strategic planning, service development and change programmes, driving innovation, modernisation and high levels of staff and patient satisfaction.
Responsible for providing a key leadership role in all the delivery of financial, quality, performance, productivity and workforce targets, local and national, as agreed through the business planning, appraisal and personal development processes.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining internal controls to assure delivery of financial management and the deployment of resources in line with the Trust's financial plan and in accordance the Trust's financial governance requirements. This will include delivering contracted activity levels and managing related pay and non-pay expenditure within agreed budgets, achieving required levels of cost improvement and underpinning service line profitability.
Lead for engagement with internal and external stakeholders and building collaborative relationships to improve communication and assure delivery of the business plan and strategic objectives.

Education and Qualifications
oEducated to degree level or equivalent qualification/experience
oEvidence of continuing professional development including relevant NHS and/or other management studies to masters level or above, or equivalent experience
Knowledge and experience
oSignificant experience working in both strategic and operational remits
oSignificant NHS/ public sector experience and knowledge including up-to-date knowledge and understanding of NHS system reform policy and other key policy drivers
oProven experience of effective performance and budgetary management and control, including achieving annual targets on a regular basis for a large group of clinical specialities.
oDemonstrable success in building, leading, motivating and developing multi-disciplinary teams as a highly effective people manager
oProven success in business planning and in the development of business cases
oDemonstrate experience of capably managing PTL and diagnostic pathways, on multiple sites, delivering statutory KPIs
oDemonstrable understanding and application of NHSE care coordination tools
oDemonstrable understanding and experience in collaborative and productive working with external organisation partners
Demonstrable experience of capably managing cancer pathways and delivering KPIs
