We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Building Surveyor to support a condition survey programme across a portfolio of schools in the Northeast of England.
Assignment Details:
  • Location: Northeast England
  • Contract: Freelance (Outside IR35)
  • Rate: £300£350 per day (DOE)
  • Programme Duration: May June
  • Start Date: May 2026
Role Overview:
You will be responsible for undertaking condition surveys across multiple school sites, assessing building fabric and services, and producing clear, structured reports. The programme is part of a wider asset management initiative, requiring consistency and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct detailed condition surveys of educational buildings
  • Identify and report on defects, maintenance requirements, and lifecycle considerations
  • Capture data in line with client specifications (tablet-based or template reporting)
  • Liaise with site staff to coordinate access and minimise disruption
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant regulations and health & safety standards
Requirements:
  • Proven experience delivering condition surveys (education sector desirable)
  • Relevant qualifications in Building Surveying or similar discipline
  • Strong reporting and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage a regional workload independently
  • Enhanced DBS (essential and must be current)
Additional Information:
  • Travel between sites required
  • Equipment/software guidance provided where necessary
