Fractional Chief Data Officer / CTO Hybrid

The company is embarking on an exciting phase of growth in the data analytics sector, specifically focusing on critical minerals and renewable energy. We are seeking a dynamic and mission-driven leader to join as a fractional CTO. In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing our execution speed, strengthening our data strategy, and supporting the commercialization of our innovative geospatial analytics platform.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a robust data strategy that enhances our data engineering and data science capabilities.
  • Lead data provenance initiatives to ensure accuracy and reliability for client use.
  • Oversee the integration and utilization of AI tools to support decision-making, without solely relying on AI solutions.
  • Support the delivery of our MVP pilot and assist in its commercialization through a strategic paywall implementation.
  • Guide the transition and handover from the current fractional CTO to ensure seamless continuity and team alignment.
  • Collaborate closely with our engineering and market intelligence teams to drive efficient product delivery.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical background in data engineering or data science, with a proven track record in senior leadership roles.
  • Extensive experience with data platforms, APIs, and AWS is essential.
  • Familiarity with emerging and frontier markets, particularly within the critical minerals and renewable energy sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive execution and deliver results in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
  • Mission-driven, with a long-term vision and the capability to see beyond transactional relationships.
  • Flexibility to work approximately 5 hours per week, with a preference for candidates based in the UK/Europe or the US East Coast.
