TimePlan Education are currently seeking a dedicated and well-organised Design & Technology Technician to join a supportive secondary school in Forest Gate from January 2026. This role will predominantly be based within the Food Technology department.

About the Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teaching staff by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment for practical lessons. Although the focus will be on Food Technology, there may be occasional support required across the wider DT department.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing ingredients, materials, and equipment for Food Technology lessons
Assisting teachers during practical sessions and demonstrations
Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment in line with food hygiene and health & safety regulations
Monitoring stock levels and placing orders where necessary
Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, and food hygiene standards
Supporting general departmental tasks as requiredThe Ideal Candidate Will Have

Previous experience in a technician role or working within a school food technology or DT setting
A good understanding of food hygiene, health & safety, and COSHH regulations
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
A flexible and proactive approach to supporting teaching and learning
An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one through TimePlan)What We Offer
