Job Description

We are looking for a Food Production Shift Manager to join our production team.


This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a shift within our maunfacuting facility. You will lead and support a team in the preparation, baking and packing of bakery products, ensuring they consistently meet our quality, food safety, and performance standards.


The successful candidate will ensure production targets are achieved, maintain high standards of hygiene and health & safety compliance, coordinate workflow across the shift, and provide clear direction and support to team members to drive efficiency and consistency throughout the contract period.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Oversee the smooth day-to-day running of a designated production shift and all staff on site including dispatch.
  • Lead, motivate, and support the Production team to deliver against agreed KPIs and company targets.
  • Plan and coordinate labour and resources to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Monitor shift performance, resolve operational issues promptly, and escalate where necessary.
  • Ensure all products are prepared, baked, finished, and packed to the highest quality standards.
  • Maintain full compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety, and BRC requirements.
  • Ensure goods are dispatched during the shift in line with agreed schedules and service timeframes.
  • Oversee end-of-shift site closure, ensuring all security and operational procedures are completed.
  • Complete accurate production records and ensure all documentation is up to date.
  • Promote high standards of hygiene, housekeeping, and a positive team culture throughout the shift.


What You Bring

  • Proven line management experience in a food manufacturing environment, ideally in a bakery setting.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety, food safety and BRC requirements, with experience maintaining compliance in a production environment.
  • A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to build trust, motivate teams, and drive performance from day one.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to plan effectively and achieve high levels of output.
  • Clear and confident verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
  • Strong numeracy, literacy and IT skills, with an eye for detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with a proactive, hands-on approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to remain calm and logical in a fast-paced production organisation.


Working Arrangements: Full Time,Monday – Friday, 2pm – 10pm.

Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum.

Location: Based on-site in Bishops Cleeve, Cheltenham
