Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Truck Driver with valid Counterbalance and/or Reach Truck licenses to join our busy waste and recycling facility. The role involves handling recyclable materials, loading/unloading waste containers, and supporting site operations to ensure smooth and efficient processing of recyclable waste streams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate Counterbalance and/or Reach Forklifts to move, load, and stack materials (e.g., paper, plastic, metals, general waste).
* Load balers, shredders, and compactors with recyclable material safely and efficiently.
* Transport sorted waste to designated areas within the facility.
* Assist with loading/unloading vehicles and skip bins for dispatch.
* Carry out daily pre-use safety checks and report any defects or issues with FLT equipment.
* Maintain cleanliness and order in the yard, warehouse, and loading bays.
* Follow strict site safety, environmental, and hygiene procedures.
* Assist in general labouring duties when not operating machinery (e.g., sorting materials, manual handling).
* Support in the segregation of hazardous vs non-hazardous waste where necessary.
Requirements:
* Valid Counterbalance and/or Reach FLT license (RTITB or ITSSAR accredited).
* Previous experience in a waste management, recycling, or heavy industrial environment preferred but not essential.
* Physically fit and comfortable working in a sometimes dirty and outdoor setting.
* Awareness of health & safety protocols, including safe manual handling and equipment use.
* Ability to work in a team and under minimal supervision.
* Strong attention to detail and responsible work ethic.
