Floating Quarry Operative

Hourly Rate – £15.54 per hour
Hours – 47.75 hours per week, 7am to 5pm
Location & Postcode – Darrington Quarry (with travel to other quarry sites)

As a Floating Quarry Operative at FCC Environment, you will support the safe operation of mobile and fixed quarry plant and equipment across multiple quarry sites. You will be based at Darrington Quarry but will be required to provide operational cover across the quarry’s business, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently and in line with company procedures.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week, and one Saturday morning per month on a rota basis.

What will you be doing?

- Operate mobile and fixed quarry plant in accordance with site safe systems of work and manufacturer’s instructions
- Work safely at all times, following health, safety and environmental procedures
- Carry out daily pre-start inspections and report defects on plant and equipment
- Ensure production levels are maintained safely to schedule
- Examine materials produced to ensure product quality standards are met
- Complete inspection systems and checklists in line with the Integrated Management System
- Carry out basic preventative maintenance on mobile and fixed plant
- Travel between quarry sites as required to provide operational cover

What are we looking for?

- Previous experience working within a quarrying environment
- Experience operating mobile plant such as wheeled loading shovel, articulated dumper and tracked excavator
- Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental compliance
- Flexible approach with the ability to travel between sites
- Ability to work collaboratively and follow instructions
- Reliable, safety-focused and performance-driven
