Job Description
Fire Safety Officer\n37 Hours per week\n£18.26 per hour\nJob Purpose\nTo advise on the most appropriate and cost effective standards of fire safety in its premises and work operations in accordance with the relevant statutory requirements and codes of practice.\nMain Duties\nThese are some of the typical duties you will be expected to perform.\nThis is not exhaustive, and you may need to complete similar tasks as required.\nTo carry out fire risk assessments, fire safety inspections and DSEAR assessments of Council premises, sites and work operations as required.\nTo provide advice and guidance to directorates regarding fire safety to assist in identifying and mitigating risk.\nTo carry out investigations of any fire safety related incidents as required.\nTo prepare, assessments, CAD fire safety plans and reports.\nTo support the development and monitoring of corporate policy and strategies in relation to internal fire safety standards and codes of practice.\nTo assist in designing, procuring and delivering appropriate fire safety training. Fire Safety Officer Reports to: Head of Health and Safety Direct reports.\nTo keep up to date with developments in fire safety related legislation, technical standards and disciplines/approaches to fire safety management and advise accordingly.\nTo develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with directorates and relevant external stakeholders as appropriate.\nTo represent at relevant local, regional and meetings and forums as required.\nTo promote and implement our , Equality, Equity, and Accessibility policy in all aspects of your employment.\nTo help maintain a healthy, safe, and secure environment and to adhere to our policies and procedure\nEssential\nNVQ L3 qualification as a minimum in fire risk assessment or fire safety audit.\nRecent experience carrying out fire risk assessments in a range of premises in different sectors, producing reports incorporating proportionate, costeffective advice, and can provide examples.\nDemonstrate knowledge of fire safety regulations and relevant technical standards, to advise and support managers set standards and drive fire safety improvements and can provide examples.\nAbility to prioritise and plan a busy workload to support service delivery to internal and external clients and can provide examples.\nAbility to work as part of a team and autonomously and can provide examples.\nEffective verbal and written communication skills, including analytical skills and use of IT skills and can provide examples.\nDesirable\nMembership of IFSM (or working towards membership).\nNVQ L4 qualification in fire risk assessment or fire safety audit.\nExperience in conducting DSEAR assessments.\nExperience in fire safety investigation to identify causes and make appropriate recommendations to prevent future fires.\nExperience in delivering fire safety awareness training/presentations.\nPossess and maintain a valid driving licence and be willing to drive, as required by the role.\nInterested please apply
