Financial Controller

Our client is a well-established UK manufacturing business operating within a complex, regulated environment and forming part of a wider group. With multiple sites and a focus on robust governance, the organisation offers a stable platform with scope for operational influence and development.

This is a senior, autonomous role leading the day-to-day financial activities and controls of the business. The Financial Controller will take ownership of reporting, compliance and performance insight, while managing and developing a small transactional finance team. The role is primarily based in West Yorkshire, with regular travel to an additional UK site.

Key responsibilities include: Full ownership of month-end management accounts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and adherence to group deadlines
Preparation of monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting with detailed variance analysis
Supporting with board and senior management reporting and performance commentary
Development, documentation and embedding of robust financial policies, controls and procedures
Leading the annual budgeting and forecasting process, coordinating inputs and challenging assumptions
Business partnering with departmental heads to understand cost drivers and improve financial performance
Oversight of cashflow forecasting, banking arrangements and payment approvals in line with authority matrices
Day-to-day management of purchase ledger and sales ledger teams, including credit control and supplier payments
Review and approval of new supplier and customer accounts and credit limits
Leading year-end audit and statutory processes, liaising with external auditors and tax advisers
Responsibility for VAT, corporation tax, payroll liaison, and other UK statutory filings
Coaching and developing the finance team to improve capability, performance and workload management
Candidate profile: Professionally qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent senior experience
Essential experience in a manufacturing
Strong track record of management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
Experience coordinating audits and working with external advisers and stakeholders
Confident leader with a collaborative, coaching approach to team management
Strong systems and data skills, with advanced Excel capability
High levels of integrity, attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines
Package and working pattern: Salary: £50,000 - £60,000
Office-based role in West Yorkshire with regular travel to a second UK site
