Financial Operations Manager - Private Equity
Location: London
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced financial operations manager to join a leading private equity firm. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of UK finance operations while overseeing accounting activities across multiple European offices.
You will act as a key regional finance lead, working closely with global stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting, robust compliance, and seamless payroll and accounting operations across borders. This is a highly visible role with strong exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to drive meaningful process improvements across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead finance operations for the UK and support oversight of accounting activities across several European entities Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis Act as the primary liaison with global payroll teams to ensure accurate payroll accounting and reporting Oversee external accounting providers, ensuring timely and accurate statutory reporting and local compliance Lead the annual audit process, coordinating with external auditors and managing deliverables Review financial reporting under UK GAAP, IFRS, and US GAAP frameworks Support VAT, payroll tax, intercompany accounting, and multi-currency reporting Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, systems, and internal controls Prepare reporting packs and analysis for senior leadership, including financial and operational insights Collaborate with cross-functional teams including HR, tax advisors, and regional stakeholders
About You
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent) 7–10 years’ experience in finance and accounting, ideally within an international or financial services environment Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, with exposure to IFRS and US GAAP Proven experience managing audits and working with external service providers Solid understanding of payroll accounting and related processes Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems Strong communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across multiple regions Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
