School-Based | Education Sector Experience Essential

We are working on behalf of a well-regarded school to recruit an experienced Finance Manager who has proven experience working within a school or educational setting. This role is ideal for someone who understands school finance systems, budget pressures, and the importance of compliance within education.

This is a key leadership role, supporting the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team by overseeing the school's financial operations and ensuring funds are managed effectively to support student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the day-to-day financial management of the school

Prepare, monitor, and report on school budgets and forecasts

Ensure compliance with ESFA, local authority, and audit requirements

Manage payroll, purchasing, and supplier payments

Produce clear financial reports for governors and senior leaders

Support strategic financial planning and funding decisions

Line-manage finance or admin staff where applicable

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Have previous finance experience within a school or trust (essential)

Be confident working with school finance systems and education funding

Have strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls

Be highly organised, accurate, and able to work to strict deadlines

Communicate clearly with staff, governors, and external auditors

Understand the importance of safeguarding and confidentiality in schools
