Job Title: Finance Assistant (Early Start Education Ltd)
Adecco are recruiting on behalf of Newham Council for a Finance Assistant to support nursery financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and organised individual with finance or administrative experience to join a supportive team within early years services.
Contract Details:
Type: Temporary Pay: £275 per day, Umbrella Location: Newham Dockside, with hybrid working Hours: Part time (22 hours per week) Working Arrangements: Hybrid (1 - 2 days per week in the office)About the Role:
You will provide a comprehensive and efficient finance and administrative service supporting nursery operations. Working closely with the Finance Manager and Nursery Management Team, you will ensure financial processes are accurate, compliant, and delivered to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, issue and monitor monthly invoices Reconcile payments including Direct Debits, BACS and childcare funding streams Maintain accurate financial records using systems such as Xero and Famly Process Early Years funding claims accurately and on time Monitor outstanding balances and support debt recovery Produce financial reports and support budget monitoring Manage payroll processes including staff salaries and adjustments Handle finance-related queries from parents and carers professionally Ensure compliance with GDPR, EYFS and relevant regulations Support audits and maintain accurate documentationSkills & Experience Required:
Proven experience in finance or administrative roles Strong IT skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and financial systems Excellent organisational and time-management skills High attention to detail and accuracy Professional, approachable and confident communication style Fluent written and spoken EnglishQualifications:
AAT Level 2 (minimum requirement) Enhanced DBS (required)Desirable:
