A well-established and highly stable manufacturing business with full order books secured for the next 10+ years is looking to recruit a mechanically biased Assembly Operative into its Final Assembly team on a permanent basis. This is a strong opportunity for someone seeking long-term job security, a consistent workload, and the chance to progress internally within a structured manufacturing environment. Overtime is available if desired, alongside a good benefits package.

The role

Reporting to the Cell Leader, the Assembly Operative will be responsible for the mechanical assembly of precision-engineered components and sub-assemblies to detailed technical and quality standards. The role is hands-on and suited to candidates with a strong mechanical background rather than an electrical bias.

Duties will include:

Mechanical assembly of sub-assemblies using engineering drawings, technical specifications and kits of parts

Use of hand tools, torque equipment and associated tooling

Carrying out self-inspection, stage inspection and final certification of assembled components

Identifying and applying correct part numbers, drawing issues and surface finishes

Recording work in progress and component traceability using shop floor systems

Adhering to quality, health and safety, FOD and ESD procedures

Supporting 5S and continuous improvement activities

Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and tool control

Candidate requirements:

This role is mechanically biased. Candidates with a primarily electrical background are unlikely to be suitable.

Essential:

Experience working in a manufacturing or precision engineering environment

Ability to read and work from engineering drawings

Confident use of basic hand tools

Good manual dexterity with a methodical and accurate approach to work

Basic IT skills
Desirable:

Experience using SAP or similar manufacturing systems

Awareness of FOD and ESD controls

What’s on offer:

Permanent role with exceptional long-term stability

Salary of £35,500

Short Friday working hours

Optional overtime

Good benefits package

Clear opportunities for internal progression and development

This role would suit someone looking to build a long-term career in mechanical assembly within a business known for stability, quality and investment in its people.
