Field Service Engineer – Power Generation\nPackage: £17.00 – £20.00 per hour (DOE) + Overtime + Van + Benefits\nLocation: Peterborough\nIndustry: Power Generation / Heavy Plant / Construction Equipment\nThe Business\nOur client is an established, privately owned equipment business with a strong reputation in power generation and construction plant. They support a loyal customer base with installation, servicing and breakdown support for diesel generator sets and associated equipment.\nThey’re now looking for a Field Service Engineer to strengthen their powergen team and support continued growth in the region.\nThe Role\nWorking as a mobile engineer, you’ll service, maintain and repair diesel generator sets at customer sites. You’ll handle a mix of planned maintenance, project support and emergency breakdowns, acting as the main on-site contact for customers.\nYou’ll be based from home with a fully equipped service van, covering a regional patch and occasionally working out-of-hours as part of a call-out rota.\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nService, repair and fault-find on diesel generator sets on customer sites.\nCarry out site surveys, assist with installations and support commissioning.\nWork on control panels, wiring and basic PLC/controller programming (e.g.

Deep Sea / Deif or similar).\nPerform loadbank testing on a range of generator sizes.\nComplete accurate job reports and parts usage on PDA / laptop.\nRepresent the business professionally and build strong customer relationships.About You\n\nNVQ Level 2+ (or equivalent) in plant, mechanical, electrical or similar engineering.\nExperience with diesel engines, generators, plant or off-highway equipment.\nGood understanding of mechanical and electrical systems (engines, alternators, control panels, wiring, hydraulics, transmissions).\nGenerator control systems / PLC-style controller experience is a bonus.\n18th Edition / IEE regs beneficial but not essential.\nConfident working independently in the field and managing your own workload.\nStrong customer focus, good communicator and comfortable under pressure.\nFlexible towards overtime, call-outs and occasional unsociable hours.\nFull UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.\nBased within ~30 minutes of the depot / territory.What’s on Offer\n\n£17.00 – £20.00 per hour (DOE) + enhanced overtime rates.\nCompany van and fuel card (with option for personal use).\nAuto-enrolment pension.\n22 days’ holiday + bank holidays, with extra days for long service.\nCompany sick pay scheme.\nCall-out / standby payments.\nTool allowance, uniform, mobile / PDA / laptop and PPE.\nOngoing technical training, clear progression routes and manufacturer-led development.\nAdditional benefits including private medical (contributory) and employee support schemes (after qualifying period).How to Apply\nIf you’re an experienced engineer with a background in generators, plant or similar heavy equipment, and you enjoy varied field-based work, we’d like to hear from you.\nApply online or contact Nathan Turley for a confidential discussion: (url removed)\nElite Consultancy Network is a brand within the Executive Network Group.
