A leading manufacturer of automated machinery is seeking a Service Engineer to join its growing technical team due to continued expansion and an increasing demand for customised machinery solutions.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys a mix of site-based installations, fault finding, commissioning, and customer technical support both in the UK and internationally.

The Role

As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, and support of specialist production machinery. The role involves a mixture of on-site customer visits, remote support, and collaboration with internal engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

You will also play a key role in ensuring machines perform reliably while supporting customers with troubleshooting, upgrades, and technical guidance.

Key Responsibilities

Installation and commissioning of new machinery at customer sites
Service, maintenance, and breakdown response for installed equipment
Fault finding on electrical, mechanical, and control systems
Software debugging and commissioning for production line integrations
Providing remote diagnostics and technical support for customers
Logging service requests and maintaining support documentation
Liaising with internal teams regarding service, spares, and technical solutions
Supporting customers via telephone and email with technical issues
Assisting with product improvements by providing feedback from field experience
Completing documentation including test plans and validation records

Working Hours

Monday - Thursday: 08:00 - 17:00
Friday: 08:00 - 13:00
Overtime available when travelling to/from customer sites.

Requirements

Essential

Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering background
Recognised qualification in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering (HNC / BTEC or similar)
Strong fault-finding ability on machinery and automation equipment
Experience working with industrial machinery
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and customer service skills
Valid passport and willingness to travel internationally

Desirable

Electrical certification for working with 3-phase installations
5+ years experience servicing and fault-finding machinery
Experience with Siemens or Allen Bradley programming
Experience installing or commissioning production/packaging machinery
Experience completing validation documentation for production lines
Degree in Electrical Engineering or working towards chartered status

The successful candidate will be a proactive and solutions-focused engineer who enjoys problem solving and delivering excellent technical support to customers.

You will be comfortable working on complex machinery, managing site visits, and collaborating with engineering teams to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions
