Job Description
Mode Search is supporting a leading luxury retail house in their search for a Maintenance & Facilities Manager. This role will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and safety of all retail sites across the UK, contributing to the brand’s commitment to excellence in presentation, compliance, and functionality.
Based at the Head Office in London, this is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Real Estate Manager. The role involves regular travel to stores and premises across the UK.
The Role
Coordinate and oversee all planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance activities across stores, offices, and warehouse sites. Manage building systems including HVAC, lighting, lifts, pest control, cleaning, waste collection, and other facility operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance. Supervise and support maintenance contractors, ensuring training, safety, and service standards are consistently met. Oversee security and safety systems such as CCTV, access control, fire alarms, and emergency lighting, working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners. Prepare, manage, and update maintenance schedules and budgets; monitor expenditures and provide regular reports to senior management. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure all facilities meet the company’s operational and aesthetic standards. Lead all Health & Safety initiatives across UK sites, ensuring legal compliance and best practice. Liaise with external H&S consultants to coordinate audits, inspections, and staff training programs (First Aid, Fire Warden, Mental Health First Aid, etc.). Manage the documentation and implementation of H&S policies, risk assessments, and compliance programs. Support minor renovation works and maintenance projects, ensuring timely delivery and clear reporting. Collaborate with the Real Estate team on refurbishment and store opening projects, offering technical support throughout all project phases. Lead tender processes, negotiate maintenance contracts, and maintain accurate records of assets, warranties, and service agreements. Track and analyse key performance indicators such as maintenance costs, asset performance, and schedule compliance.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Facilities and Maintenance Management, ideally within a multi-site retail or hospitality environment. Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations; NEBOSH or equivalent qualification . Proven experience managing budgets, contractors, and technical building systems. Excellent communication and organisational skills with a proactive, problem-solving approach. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Previous exposure to construction or refurbishment project management is an advantage. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook. Flexibility to travel within the UK as required.
