Job Description
About Us\nWe are part of the Panda Recycling Group and a leading waste management company providing integrated collection and recycling services to a wide range of businesses and local authorities.\nWe are seeking a skilled Fabricator–Welder to join our Fabrications team in Salford. The successful candidate will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and refurbishing waste containers to a high standard, ensuring all work reflects the quality and professionalism expected by our customers.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nFabrication & Welding\n\n Carry out welding, grinding, cutting, burning, and general fabrication duties as assigned by the Fabrications/Maintenance Manager\nRepair and maintain waste containers, ensuring they are fully functional, safe, and presentable for customer use\nMaintain machinery, tools, and equipment to a high standard, promptly reporting defectsWorkplace Operations\n\nWork collaboratively with the welding/fabrication team and approved third-party contractors\nEnsure all work areas are free from hazards prior to commencing tasks\nMaintain good housekeeping standards within the fabrication yard at all times\nSupport the maintenance workshop with tasks as required\nClean down your work area at the end of each shift and ensure safe working practices are followedDocumentation & Communication\n\nComplete and submit relevant documentation such as log sheets, tool checks, inspection reports, and other required paperwork\nCommunicate professionally with customers, colleagues, and site personnel while representing the companyHealth & Safety Responsibilities\n\nComply with all company Health & Safety policies, procedures, and safe systems of work\nEnsure correct use of PPE at all times\nCarry out hot works in accordance with HSE guidelines and company permit-to-work procedures\nImmediately report any hazards, unsafe conditions, near misses or incidents to the Fabrications Manager\nParticipate in SHEQ workshop toursRequired Qualifications & Experience\nEssential\n\nNVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Fabrication & Welding (or equivalent)\nProven experience in MIG welding (additional welding processes beneficial)\nAbility to read and understand technical drawings\nExperience using grinders, cutting equipment, and general fabrication tools\nGood understanding of workshop Health & Safety practices\nFull UK driving licence (if operationally required)Desirable\n\nBS EN ISO 9606-1 (Welding Qualification) or equivalent coding/certification\nIPAF or PASMA certification for working at height\nForklift Truck (FLT) licence (counterbalance or telehandler)\nExperience working in waste, recycling, manufacturing, or heavy-duty engineering environments\nHot Works & Fire Safety awareness training\nFirst Aid at Work certificationKey Competencies\n\nStrong practical and mechanical skills\nExcellent attention to detail and commitment to quality\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\nStrong problem-solving skills\nReliable, safety-driven, and proactive\nWe are Panda.
