Expeditor/Assistant Buyer - 6 month FTC

We are looking for a proactive and organised Expeditor / Assistant Buyerto join our Materials Control team. This role is key to ensuring supplier deliveries are aligned with internal forecasts, production schedules, and customer requirements.You will manage the purchase order expediting process, communicate with suppliers to resolve delays, and support purchasing activities across an allocated portfolio of products and services. The role requires close collaboration with Purchasing, Planning, Engineering and Production teamsto maintain smooth material flow within a manufacturing environment.This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in procurement and supply chain, with the potential to progress through CIPS qualifications.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and expedite supplier purchase ordersto ensure delivery dates meet business requirements.Generate and distribute weekly supplier order booksand update delivery commitments in the ERP system.Action MRP reschedule messages, including bring forward, defer or cancellation requests.Review and process supplier acknowledgementsagainst purchase orders.Communicate directly with suppliers to resolve delays and maintain delivery performance.Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.Escalate supplier issues and delivery risks to the relevant Buyer when required.Represent the Purchasing team in weekly Sales Order / Production meetings, providing updates on supplier shortages.Work closely with Planning and Production teamsto manage material availability.Monitor and report supplier on-time delivery performanceagainst targets.Maintain accurate records within the ERP system including lead times, costs and delivery data.Process non-stock purchase requisitionsand convert them into purchase orders.Support RFQ processesand place purchase orders generated through MRP.Assist with new supplier approvalswhen required.Contribute to continuous improvement initiativeswithin the Purchasing team.Skills and ExperienceEssentialStrong Microsoft Office skills, particularly ExcelExcellent organisation and prioritisation skillsStrong communication skillsand ability to work with suppliers and internal stakeholdersHigh level of attention to detailAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesProactive and results-driven mindsetStrong teamwork and relationship-building skillsDesirableExperience using ERP or MRP systemsExperience with Syspro (version 7+)Previous expediting or purchasing experienceUnderstanding of procurement processesExperience in a manufacturing environmentProfessional DevelopmentWe support career development within procurement and supply chain, including the opportunity to pursue a Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualification.What We're Looking ForThe successful candidate will demonstrate:Adaptability and flexibilityDrive for results and persistenceProactive problem-solvingExcellent communication skillsCustomer-focused mindsetStrong attention to quality and detailResilience and self-confidenceCommitment to teamwork and company valuesJBRP1_UKTJ
