1291 Group is one of the world’s leading advisors for Private Wealth Solutions and is currently experiencing sustainable growth. To accommodate the expansion of our 1291 Group unit out of London, we are looking for a person with experience and competences to lead, design and oversee Compliance as MLRO, in addition to the role as Executive Director.

This key function goes hand in hand with a leadership role in Group Compliance of 1291 Group in various jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as Executive Director (SMF3).
• Serve as SMF16 (Compliance Oversight) and SMF17 (MLRO).
• Take care of compliance, conduct, and AML/CTF frameworks, policies, and governance structures.
• Maintain KYC/AML standards, monitoring plans, and regulatory reporting routines.
• Lead regulatory engagement with the Authorities, insurers, and key partners.
• Oversee the suitability, governance, and risk controls of Life Insurance Products.
• Provide strategic compliance guidance to the Board during the firm’s scaling-up journey.
• Develop a scalable compliance infrastructure designed for future team expansion.

What You Bring

• Senior leadership experience with a UK-regulated financial advisor; previous SMF 3, 16, 17
• Deep knowledge of the FCA Handbook, AML/CTF and sanctions regulation, and financial crime frameworks.
• Strong technical expertise in the financial sector, ideally insurance world and related governance requirements.
• A “builder” mindset—confident in creating processes and culture in a challenging environment.
• High integrity, sound judgement, and the ability to interact with senior stakeholders and the Board.
• Further to proficiency in the English language, expertise in any other language is of additional benefit.
