Overview
The Environment Agency is fully committed to having an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Executive Assistant to support the Executive Director of Operations with daily business and administration.
As part of the Executive Director's Office (EDO), you will work with a high degree of independence, helping the Executive Director lead operations with Agency colleagues, Defra, government, and partners to create better places for people and wildlife.
Responsibilities
Manage the Executive Director’s diary and mailbox, triage and distribute accordingly.
Coordinate travel, annual leave, and expenses.
Act as the initial contact for the office, handling requests and assigning tasks.
Oversee line‑manager and administrative tasks for the wider leadership team (expenses, leave approvals, etc.).
Provide support with leadership meetings, note‑taking and minuting.
Keep the Executive Director informed on day‑to‑day activities and priorities.
Support the Executive Director in internal and external engagement opportunities and foster personal development.
Qualifications & Skills
Previous experience as an executive assistant (or demonstrable transferable skills) is essential.
Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong problem‑solving ability with initiative and independence.
Exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills, able to work under pressure.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Team player, delivering quality results independently and with others.
Experience handling high‑level, sensitive information.
Resilience and adaptability to changing situations.
