Our client is a major player in the UK infrastructure sector, delivering high-performance electrical and utility solutions for industrial, commercial, and public infrastructure projects. With a strong pipeline of work across energy distribution, commercial construction, and civil engineering, they are expanding their pre-construction team to support nationwide project growth.\n\nAbout the Role\n\nAdvance TRS is seeking a skilled Estimator to support pre-construction efforts for a wide range of infrastructure and electrical engineering projects. Working closely with the commercial and project teams, this role will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, pricing tenders, and supporting successful bid submissions.\n\nThe role is in scope, with a flexible working arrangement and periodic site or client visits as needed.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nAnalyse tender documentation including drawings, specifications, and schedules to understand project scope and requirements.\nPrepare detailed cost estimates for electrical, civil, and infrastructure projects across commercial and industrial sectors.\nLiaise with internal engineering, procurement, and delivery teams to gather cost inputs and technical information.\nObtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.\nSupport bid submissions with well-structured pricing documents, risk assessments, and value-engineered options.\nAttend pre-tender and post-tender meetings as required.\nMonitor cost trends, market rates, and competitor pricing strategies.\nContribute to continuous improvement of estimating tools, databases, and best practices.
\n\nCandidate Requirements\n\nHNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.\n3-7 years of experience in estimating for infrastructure, electrical contracting, or EPC projects.\nStrong understanding of NEC, JCT, and other UK contract frameworks.\nProficient in estimating software (e.g., Conquest, Causeway, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.\nGood commercial acumen with the ability to spot risk and opportunity in tenders.\nExcellent attention to detail and methodical approach to pricing.\nEffective communication and collaboration skills to liaise with technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nFlexible to travel across the UK as needed for site assessments or meetings. \n\nDesirable Skills\n\nExperience in estimating HV/LV electrical systems, substations, cabling, or utility diversions.\nFamiliarity with public procurement portals and government frameworks.\nKnowledge of value engineering and lifecycle costing in infrastructure environments. \n\nWhat's on Offer\n\nCompetitive salary and benefits package.\nFlexible working arrangement with project exposure.\nSupportive environment focused on technical excellence and team development.\nOpportunity to work with a high-performing commercial and pre-construction team on strategic UK projects.
