The Role

Position: Estimator

Location: Stirling, Central Scotland

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Review Tender Documents: Analyse architectural drawings, specifications, and client requirements to understand project scope.
  • Take-offs and Measurements: Perform detailed take-offs 
  • Cost Calculation: Calculate total project costs, including material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.
  • Supplier Liaison: Obtain competitive pricing from suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, architects, and internal teams to gather project information and clarify specifications
  • Proposal Submission: Prepare and submit detailed tenders and bids within strict deadlines.
  • Value Engineering: Propose alternative, more cost-effective materials or methods to improve tender competitiveness.
  • Project Handover: Collaborate with project managers to ensure a smooth transition from winning the bid to on-site execution. 
  • Manage the estimation and tendering process, maintaining clear communication and meeting submission deadlines
  • Use estimation software and tools to produce professional, detailed quotations
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotes, and project data


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven experience in estimating for interior fit-out projects (ceilings, dry lining, partitions).
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Software Proficiency: Skilled in MS Excel and dedicated estimating or take-off software.
  • Commercial Awareness: Understanding of market rates, material costs, and industry trends.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in measurement and calculation to prevent budget overruns.
  • Communication: Ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams


Typical Qualifications

  • Background in similar role within the construction industry or extensive on-site experience as an interior fixer/installer.
  • Valid industry qualifications
