Job Description – Estimator (Roofing & Cladding)

Location: Bradford / Hybrid
Reporting to: Managing Director

ROLE OVERVIEW

An experienced Estimator – Roofing & Cladding is required to take full responsibility for the estimating function within a specialist subcontracting environment. This is a senior-level role with significant commercial responsibility, suited to an individual capable of independently managing, pricing and submitting bids, engaging directly with clients, and contributing to the development of repeat and negotiated workstreams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Estimating & Commercial Responsibility

*

Manage, prioritise and track all incoming enquiries.

*

Log new enquiries and maintain accurate bid status records.

*

Produce detailed take-offs from drawings, specifications and schedules.

*

Price roofing and cladding packages including:

*

Composite panel systems

*

Rainscreen cladding

*

Built-up roofing systems

*

Standing seam roofing

*

Flashings, gutters and interfaces

*

Prepare full cost plans and breakdowns covering materials, labour, plant, access, preliminaries and subcontract elements.

*

Obtain, analyse and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.

*

Identify and clearly define risks, assumptions, exclusions and value opportunities.

*

Propose, justify and apply appropriate project margins.

Client & Tender Engagement

*

Liaise directly with main contractors, developers and clients.

*

Manage tender queries, clarifications and addenda.

*

Attend pre-let meetings, tender reviews and post-tender interviews.

*

Represent the business professionally and commercially at all times.

Business Development

*

Develop new client relationships within the roofing and cladding sector.

*

Maintain and grow existing client relationships.

*

Support strategic engagement with key clients and frameworks.

*

Provide market intelligence, benchmarking and pricing feedback.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

*

Proven experience in an Estimator role within the roofing and cladding sector.

*

Strong technical knowledge of roofing, cladding and building envelope systems.

*

Sound commercial awareness and cost management capability.

*

Ability to manage multiple tenders concurrently and work to deadlines.

*

Strong Excel skills and confidence using estimating tools and pricing models
