We are seeking a number of experienced and highly motivated Estimators with a strong background in civil infrastructure to join a dedicated project team working on a key programme. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of the most high-profile infrastructure projects in the UK, providing essential estimating expertise throughout design, procurement, and delivery phases.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, develop, and manage cost estimates for complex civil infrastructure packages, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project objectives. Support the development of baseline cost plans, value engineering exercises, and risk-adjusted estimates. Collaborate closely with design teams, planners, engineers, and project managers to gather inputs and validate quantities, rates, and productivity factors. Undertake detailed analysis of contractor and supplier pricing, and provide recommendations on value for money and procurement strategies. Contribute to the preparation of tender documents and participate in bid evaluations. Support cost benchmarking, market analysis, and escalation assessments specific to civil works. Prepare clear and comprehensive estimating reports and presentations for client and stakeholder review. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction methods, market trends, and innovations within civil infrastructure. Ensure compliance with project controls, governance frameworks, and client requirements.
Key Requirements
Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Proven experience as an estimator in large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably within nuclear, energy, or major civil engineering sectors. Strong understanding of civil engineering works including earthworks, reinforced concrete structures, marine works, roads, and drainage. Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software and tools (e.g., CATO, CostX, Candy, or similar). Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work in a high-profile, fast-paced environment with strict governance and reporting requirements. Chartered status or working towards chartership (RICS, CIOB, ICES, or equivalent) is desirable.
